Florida Move

Sorry that the title of this blog is kind of lame. I thought I would just write a quick note about how the move is going for Kristin and I. Currently I have started my new job and I'm through week one with the company, Auxis. I'm working on a few things and it is going pretty well, it is definitely a change from the slow paced world of government work and it moves a much faster rate.



I have rented out a small 400 square foot efficiency (you can see a pieced together picture at the right.. .it's about 6 pictures glued together) in Fort Lauderdale. I live behind the owner of the Dolphins, Wayne H. It's kind of weird how quickly the quality of the houses and the prices escalate the closer you get to the inter coastal and the ocean. I'm going to start house hunting for a bigger place that Kristin and I can move into when she is ready to come down here. We hope to have our house in Virginia ready for rent by October 1st and it would be great to have tenants by November.

So far I've been real fortunate to have a few people willing to take me out and show me around Fort Lauderdale and Del Ray (just north for Ft. Lauderdale). So I don't spend all of my time just sitting around. It makes me really appreciate just how important and lucky I am to have so many good friends, it just sucks that you are all so far away.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you when I come back for the first week of September... so be looking for a phone call or email to see about getting together to do something. I'll see about getting all my funny antidotes together and making sure that I have something really entertaining to tell you.

GrandCentral

So there is this great service that I really am starting to like more and more. It is called grandcentral and you can get it for free from www.grandcentral.com. The feature above allows you to call me on my grandcentral number... once you hit send the service will call you, this phone call will then connect you to me... I'm pretty sure there are no long distance charges involved. The only drawback right now is that I don't have a phone, nor have a seen a phone that will place a call from the www.grandcentral.com mobile site and then have my GC number come on the other person's phone. This is a problem because most people return calls by just going to the call log and hitting send, which defeats the purpose of this service. However, if you were to try me at my cell number, and not reach me and then use my GC number you would be trying up to 4-5 different numbers in one shot.

Also, the rumor is that Google is going to acquire this company which can only mean that even better things are coming! Give it a shot, but tread lightly as it is still beta.

Mother's Day Moore Visit 2007

We had a good time with all the family coming and choosing to stay with us at our tiny apartment. Hopefully the next time we have a full house it will be with a deck, a back yard and a little more room to spread out. Kristin and I were impressed that with that group of people we were able to see the bulk of Washington D.C. including the major monuments (Washington Memorial, World War II Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial and even Arlington Cemetary). We also go to see both the Air and Space Museums (thanks Jason), the Natural History Museum and see the Captial Building, White House and the museums along the mall.

We hope to see all our family soon and hope that everyone has a great summer and keeps in touch. Enjoy the pictures above and feel free to look at other albums.
